BCB keen to rope-in Akram as bowling consultant

KARACHI: The legendary former captain of Pakistan, Wasim Akram will probably land in Bangladesh soon, as the bowling consult, if things worked out between him and the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB]. According to the BCB media committee chairman, Jalal Yunus the initial contact has been made, however they are now looking forward to hearing from the legendry fast bowler. “Chairman of the cricket operations committee, Akram Khan has informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about his interaction with Wasim Akram, on the matter, during the recently concluded World T20 cup”, said BCB media committee chairman, Jalal Yunus, while talking to this correspondent for News One TV. The head of the Cricket Operation Committee is basically the in-charge of the cricket affairs at the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

“The development has not taken an official shape as yet, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board would love to have Wasim Akram in the fold”, added Jalal Yunus.

“We are anticipating a response from Wasim Akram soon, after which a formal meeting would be held.” said Jalal Yunus.

Wasim Akram, regarded as one of the greatest left-arm fast bowlers, has joined the Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders as bowling consultant.

“Due to his [Wasim Akram] busy schedule, a long-term contract doesn’t seem possible, however even a short stint before the India series would be extremely handy for Bangladesh bowlers”, concluded Jalal Yunus, who added that India are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in June, while the Bangladesh team would tour the West Indies in August this year.
